Spaniard explains why Manchester United transfer failed

Manchester United were linked with a move for Pedro Rodriguez for several months of the summer transfer window, but no move for the world class Spaniard came to fruition. Finally the 28-year old winger has spoken out on the move and explained why it didn’t end up happening.

I just saw Man Utd were not convinced to take the step of signing me”, Pedro told Marca.

“They were delaying a lot and I needed a team with which to start the new season. Chelsea acted more decisively.”

“It is true that I do not like the treatment of my [Spain] team-mates, especially Victor, who has been a reference for me and is a model professional”, the former Barcelona man explained.

“I don’t think it’s fair, but that did not influence my decision [to join Chelsea].”

Its interesting that he clearly wasn’t keen on the treatment of Victor Valdes and David de Gea at Manchester United, and I’d be surprised if that did not influence his decision at all.

It seems as though Manchester United, and in particular Louis van Gaal weren’t totally convinced by Pedro. It looks a huge error on their part now though. In his first two Chelsea performances he has laid on two assists and also grabbed himself a goal. All at a steal for around £22million, too.
