Squad News: Man United name 24-man squad for Chelsea game

For Manchester United, they need to win their remaining three Premier League games if they’re to stand any chance at securing a top four finish.

It all starts today with a crunch game against Chelsea. Three points here is an absolute must if we’re to give ourselves a chance at pulling off the impossible.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has to get his team selection right and now we know the 24 players he’ll be able to call upon, courtesy of the Manchester Evening News.

As per usual, the likes of David de Gea, Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashord and Romelu Lukaku are all involved, while there is seemingly a return to action on the cards for Ander Herrera.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Baby Faced Assassin make major team changes for this one, because United need some serious spark from somewhere and the regular first-teamers just haven’t been anywhere near good enough.

Confirmed 24-man squad vs Chelsea (via Manchester Evening News):

David de Gea, Sergio Romero, Lee Grant, Matteo Darmian, Diogo Dalot, Ashley Young, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Andreas Pereira, Fred, Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Alexis Sanchez, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku.

It’s made all-the-more frustrating when you look at the household names that are in that squad. Winning two from eight just isn’t going to cut the mustard if you’re a club wanting to fight it out for major honours year-in-year-out.

Hopefully, we can keep Eden Hazard quiet at one end and score a few goals past Kepa at the other. If we win here, I’d seriously fancy us to go and seal our place in the top four.
