Squad News: Manchester United’s 20-man squad for the Europa League final

Manchester United’s biggest game of the season is just on the horizon. The Red Devils are in Sweden, putting in their final preparations for the Europa League final against Ajax. Jose Mourinho’s men need to win the match, in order to claim a place in next season’s Champions League.

Ahead of the eagerly anticipated clash, the Manchester Evening News have released a 20-man squad that have travelled to Stockholm to take part in the game.

As expected, the youngsters who shone so brightly at the weekend have, for the most part, been left at home. There is space for Axel Tuanzebe and Timothy Fosu-Mensah however, who have been in and around the squad for the large majority of this season.

The rest of the squad is made up of seniority. Wayne Rooney gets a place, as does Michael Carrick and Juan Mata. Chris Smalling and Marouane Fellaini have both seemingly overcome injuries and they are included.

A lot of the pressure to put the ball in the back of the net will rest on Marcus Rashford’s young shoulders. We’ll also be hoping for a huge performance from Paul Pogba, who looked very bright at the weekend.

Manchester United’s confirmed squad in full as per the Manchester Evening News:

David de Gea, Sergio Romero, Joel Pereira, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Antonio Valencia, Axel Tuanzebe, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian, Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford.

The game is not going to be easy, but, if our players turn up and perform to their capabilities, it’s a game that we should be celebrating a victory in come full-time tomorrow.
