Luke Shaw is set for a return to the Manchester United squad against Burton Albion, according to the Daily Mail. The 22-year-old hasn’t played once this season, and had no pre-season due to an injury that he picked up back in April.
Now, after a couple of outings for the Red Devils’ U23 side, it seems as though he’s ready to make the step up with his first competitive game of the season. There is no guarantee that the young man will start, but he will be included in the squad as per the aforementioned report.
Personally, I hope he does get the nod. In fact, he was excluded from United’s U23 fixture against Chelsea on Monday night, so I’d be surprised if we don’t see his name on the team sheet.
I love Shaw and I think he’s a fantastically talented individual. I just have concerns about his poor track record when it comes to injuries. A player is no use to his boss if he cannot get himself out there on the field every single week, and I really believe this season will be his last chance to prove that he is capable.
