Club give star permission to skip pre-season training as Man United move looms: report

Manchester United Football Club seem to be closing in on a deal to sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton. A move for the Belgian beast came out of nowhere, and now things are progressing pretty quickly. According to The Times (login needed), he has been given permission to skip pre-season training with The Toffees.

It is thought that he was due to return to Goodison Park today to start his preparations for the 2017/18 campaign, but Everton have allowed him to remain on holiday as his move to Old Trafford looms.

The Red Devils are hopeful of sealing a move soon, and the striker could well undergo his medical in the United States of America, before signing a contract thought to be worth around £200,000-a-week which is obviously a colossal amount of money.

Personally, I’m just happy that Manchester United are nearing the completion of another incoming transfer. We’ve been desperate to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic ever since we heard the news that his contract will not be renewed, and we could do an awful lot worse than Lukaku.

This is a guy who scored 25 league goals in 37 outings last term, which is an excellent return. Just think how many he’ll be able to score with the likes of Paul Pogba feeding the balls into him? I, for one, am excited.
