Manchester United were certainly making a bold move when they took the risk to bring in Louis van Gaal a couple of summers ago, and it looked to have paid off in the first season. However this second season he has struggled, and the fans have been calling for his head.
The stubborn Dutchman’s refusal to change tactics to a more attacking style has been frustrating for the fans, and they aren’t the only ones who have had a disagreement with the Iron Tulip.
Luca Toni, 38, played his last ever game in professional football last night, and he has admitted that he almost came to blows with the Dutchman in his post-match interview.
“In the past I had much worse misunderstandings with Van Gaal when I was playing at Bayern Munich.” Toni began.
“Back then we almost came to blows.”
At the end of the day Louis van Gaal is very strict and stubborn, and it is always his way or the high way. He firmly believes in his own methods and nothing will ever change that. He sees players as expendable which to an extent is true, but it really hasn’t worked out for him at Old Trafford.
