Star to reject Manchester United and sign new deal at current Premier League club

Manchester United are a club draped in tradition and history. One of their main mantras is the fact that they love to develop, promote, and buy young players. Jose is obviously trying to adapt to this philosophy, however, it looks as though he’s been unsuccessful in the pursuit of one player in particular.

According to The Sun, West Ham United starlet Reece Oxford has been highly sought after by both Manchester United and Manchester City – but it doesn’t look like the move is going to happen.

The report says that the teenager is set to sign a new long-term deal at the Olympic Stadium now, which The Hammers will announce on his eighteenth birthday (this Friday).

With young players, there is always a risk involved when signing them. You’re investing purely in talent rather than the finished article, and as we’ve seen so many times, some footballers don’t develop and grow how you expect them to.

That said, Reece Oxford is a man in demand so he clearly has all the attributes in his locker. But would he play regular football at manchester United if he cannot get in the West Ham side? At this point in time, you’d have to say probably not…
