Super-agent Mino Raiola has been trying to push through a deal that’ll see Chelsea and Arsenal target Mauro Icardi to Manchester United.
That’s what The Metro quote anyway, as they cite reports from Corriere dello Sport. Icardi currently plies his trade for Serie A outfit Inter Milan and he currently has an £80million release clause in his current contract.
What’s funny about this rumour is the fact that Raiola doesn’t even represent the Argentine, the player is currently represented by his wife, but the super-agent also wants Icardi to become one of his clients as part of any deal.
At this point in time, United are pretty well-stacked in terms of forward options. They have Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and now Alexis Sanchez. The only way a deal for Icardi to come here would be feasible was if at least one of these guys moved on; which I simply don’t see happening.
In all honesty, this one just seems like paper talk from Corriere dello Sport, I highly doubt any deal would go through in the summer, particularly as both the midfield and defence need far more work.
