Manchester United need to sign a new striker doing this transfer window, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s 28-goal tally needs replacing. The man that Jose Mourinho has seemingly turned to is Alvaro Morata, that’s if you believe recent reports anyway.
Today, there has been a new update in that transfer saga, and it comes from Spanish media outlet AS, translated by The Sun. If Mourinho wanted a show of commitment from Morata, then he has just gotten a big one, as the article states that the 24-year-old has cut short his honeymoon and flown back to Real Madrid in order to push a move through.
Apparently, Morata left his new wife on the island of Formentera just near Ibiza to fly back to Madrid, in order to conclude his transfer to the Theatre of Dreams.
Despite scoring 20 goals last season, Morata found himself left on the bench for the most part which has obviously frustrated him greatly. A move away seems in his best interests, and it looks like he could well be ours if things keep progressing well.
At this point, United have tabled a £63million bid according to the aforementioned report, although Los Blancos are trying to hold out for closer to £70million.
