Manchester United are rapidly closing in on their first summer signing, with Fred set to undergo his medical today.
That’s according to Sky Sources. The 25-year-old was a second-half substitute at Anfield on Sunday, and he’ll seemingly swiftly head to Manchester to sort out his Red Devils deal before jetting off to Russia for the World Cup.
What a great start to the transfer window for Jose Mourinho’s team, as they’re clearly looking likely to fill a huge hole in the starting XI. No doubt once the deal goes through, Fred will walk into the starting line-up, in a trio alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

Michael Carrick has retired and his boots will be tough ones to fill. The game has changed, though, and Fred is a more mobile central midfielder. After an impressive stay at Shakhtar Donetsk, it was time for the 25-year-old to move on – and I’m delighted he’s chosen to make the move to Old Trafford.
Brazil will play one final friendly against Austria on June 10th, before heading off to the World Cup. That’ll likely be the first chance to see him in action following a completed move to Manchester United. I’ll definitely be watching.
