According to Sky Sources, Wayne Rooney is ‘angry and confused’ at the way he has been treated by the club. Erm… okay then, Wayne. To me this is the final nail in the coffin and will probably signal the end of his Old Trafford career, with Chelsea the most likely destination.
The 27-year old striker has kept quiet about his future all summer, but David Moyes has remained adamant the England international will remain at the club. This is probably Wayne’s way of trying to force a move elsewhere.
One transfer request was enough after he claimed we lacked ambition back in 2010, and the irony is that when we acted upon that ambition and brought in Robin van Persie, he claims that he isn’t happy at being played out of position or missing out on the starting XI altogether.
Reporter Kaveh Solhekol told Sky Sports:
“Since he’s returned from the pre-season tour due to injury, Rooney has been in touch with the club and spoken to David Moyes on the phone – he is angry and confused at the way he’s been treated.”
United’s new chief executive Ed Woodward recently said:
“No contract renewals are being discussed. I am not sitting down with any player on an extension and there is no trigger date in the diary.” He added. “Would we be afraid to run a contract down? Of course not.”
The difference this time is that its now in our hands. We could let him rot in the reserves for a year and with this being a World Cup year he’d probably miss out on that. The other alternative would be to sell him now for somewhere around £30million mark, but with Chelsea the most likely destination I’d rather we stuck him in the reserves for a year and taught him a lesson.
Something tells me that Wayne Rooney’s days as a United player are numbered, and I’d be glad to see the back of him.
Ta-Ra, Wayne!
