Manchester United’s young winger, Tahith Chong, has left Old Trafford on loan for the third time over the last year.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision to add Jadon Sancho to the playing squad has left Manchester United stacked in the wide areas.
Inevitably, that means we’ll see some attackers leave, either permanently or on loan. Well, Tahith Chong will not be playing his football at the Theatre of Dreams in the 2021/22 term.
The 21-year-old United starlet has left on loan, this time to Birmingham City. The Midlands-outfit confirmed the news via their social media yesterday, with Chong all-smiles, wearing his new club colours.
For Chong, this is the third loan move since October, following spells in Germany with Werder Bremen and a trip to Belgium with Club Brugge.
Over the last few years, Chong has played a few games for United, though the chances for him at Old Trafford have come in fits and spurts.
A loan move for the Dutchman always looked likely for the upcoming term, though I do get the impression he’s running out of time to keep his place at United on a permanent basis.
I would imagine the club would’ve hoped to see Chong develop at a quicker pace, because as of right now, he’s behind the likes of Dan James, Amad Diallo and possibly even Facundo Pellistri in the pecking order. He’s going to have to do something pretty special to force his way up the pecking order over the next twelve months.
That said, let’s hope Chong can go to Birmingham, enjoy his football and really give his manager something to think about upon his return next summer.
