Over the summer, Manchester United made some key signings. Another name that the Red Devils were linked with was Leander Dendoncker of Anderlecht.
The midfield powerhouse played against the Red Devils in the Europa League last term, putting in a couple of commanding performances.
Now 22, he’s started the season in great form. In a recent interview, he was asked about the possibility of making the move to the Theatre of Dreams, and it certainly makes for interesting reading.
When asked about whether he’d consider a United move, Dendoncker replied, as per the Manchester Evening News:
“When you play for Anderlecht and you have the chance to go there, you don’t hesitate.”
It would be a huge step up for the midfielder if he does get his wish of a move to Manchester United. Jose Mourinho seems to be a fan, otherwise, we wouldn’t be rumoured to be making a move for him.
With the current injury crisis that’s happening, the self-proclaimed Special One could well be looking at more reliable options. Dendoncker would be a younger player to bring into the mix. Who knows, he could be a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick, although they’d be some huge boots to fill.
