Manchester United’s goalkeeping saga has been ongoing since the back-end of last season, with David de Gea clearly desperate to switch the red of United to the all-white of Real Madrid this summer. However it doesn’t look as though he is going to get his wish.
One shot-stopper linked with replacing De Gea is Jasper Cillessen who has worked with Van Gaal at international level, but the 26-year old has quashed any rumours suggesting him leaving Ajax before the deadline.
“As far as I know it has never been a thing,” he told NOS. “I, the club, or my agent have never heard anything. As for me, this season begins and ends at Ajax.” Cillissen said.
Jasper Cillessen is a talented keeper as he showed at the World Cup with Holland last summer, but is he Manchester United quality and worthy of replacing David de Gea? Personally I’d like to see a bigger name make the move to Old Trafford – but that doesn’t look like happening until next summer as David de Gea looks likely to stay until the end of his contract.
