Talented Man United duo could come into squad for Palace away: report

For Manchester United, the injury crisis couldn’t have come at a worse time.

The Red Devils find themselves back out of the top four after dropping points at home to Liverpool, with no fewer than three players picking up problems during the encounter at Old Trafford.

As is always the case, that potentially opens the door for academy graduates to step up and get themselves in the mix. According to the Manchester Evening News, the two players who could be involved against Crystal Palace on Wednesday are Tahith Chong and James Garner.

The report also adds that should Anthony Martial not be passed fit, Angel Gomes may also be called upon. It’s also worth mentioning that Mason Greenwood must still be struggling with injury, because he’d be the first person I’d be giving an opportunity to.

We’ve also seen Chong in action and he looked lively, while Gomes would certainly make an impact in a similar manner. The unknown quantity is Garner. He has been in and around the squad but is yet to see on-field action. The fact that he can play in the middle helps his cause as both Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera could be missing.

Giving young players a chance is in United’s DNA. I’d have faith in whoever comes into the team and no doubt the fans will be fully behind them. It’ll certainly be intriguing to see how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plays this.
