Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Pereira wants a loan move away from Old Trafford this season – after making just one first-team appearance in 2017/18.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, with United open to letting the 21-year-old leave on a short-term deal. Pereira came on as a substitute against Burton Albion in a cup game, while making the bench in no fewer than eighteen matches.
The shot-stopper signed a new four-year contract just last summer, with the man from Portugal clearly seen as the future of this club by Mourinho.
A loan move away would be brilliant for all involved. Not only would it be ideal for the player to see regular action, it’d also ensure that United would be getting back a player who will have undoubtedly improved leaps and bounds.
At this point in time, Pereira is no closer to getting first-team football at Old Trafford. Obviously, nobody is usurping David de Gea as the #1, while Sergio Romero is still an excellent back-up option. Then you have to factor in that Dean Henderson and Sam Johnstone are both still under contract with the Red Devils; that’s some depth in between the sticks.
