Manchester United picked up their second victory in a row against Watford on Saturday night, with Jose Mourinho’s men winning 2-1.
However, Luke Shaw missed out as he was suffering from a concussion. The Red Devils’ didn’t let it hamper the result as Ashley Young filled in wonderfully well. Following securing three points, the self-proclaimed Special One gave us some brilliant early team news for the upcoming game against Young Boys.
“Luke Shaw plays Wednesday.” The manager told reporters including Sky Sports.
“We can’t do it with one left-back and Ashley Young is not just a left-back, he is also a right-back.”
My main concern regarding Shaw’s up-turn it form was this exact moment. Mourinho loves to revert to type, Young started and played well at the weekend. However, it looks as though Shaw’s going to come back into the team – and that’s no less than the Englishman deserves.
Shaw has been absolutely superb to start the season. He’s been solid defensively, while giving United a completely new dimension in attack. It feels as though he has been around for ages, but the left-back is still just 23 with so much room for development still.
Thankfully, the injuries are behind him (the concussion was nothing more than a freak accident). Now, it’s time for Shaw to nail down that position in the team and make it his own.
