Toby Alderweireld’s Tottenham Hotspur teammates believe he’s off to either Manchester United or Chelsea this summer, according to The Sun, per The Metro.
The 28-year-old is yet to pen a new deal with the North London club and was left out of their huge game against Juventus last week. However, with Premier League sides, as well as Real Madrid interested, the Belgian international could be on his way out of White Hart Lane in the not too distant future.
As we all know too well, Manchester United’s defensive woes have been highlighted badly over the last few weeks. Chris Smalling often looks like the Non-League player he once was, while Phil Jones is always good for a key error in a high profile game.
Bringing in an experienced professional like Alderweireld would help considerably. He’s a player who has performed at the highest level, and the know-how and wisdom he’d bring would be absolutely vital.
Eric Bailly is great, but he badly needs a partner. Sure, that role may be Victor Lindelof’s in the long-term, but for right now, Alderweireld would be a stunning signing, particularly in those games against the Premier League big-boys.
