Erik ten Hag had admitted he considered bringing back Amad from his Sunderland loan spell.

Manchester United Football Club are progressing nicely under Erik ten Hag, with the Red Devils slowly progressing into a club that fits his style of play.

What’s most important is building a squad that falls in line with that mentality and mantra. Ten Hag’s only had one transfer window thus far.

During the summer, the Dutchman had to make some pretty swift decisions on some players. Amad certainly falls into that bracket. The young Ivory Coast international cost an awful lot of money – though United haven’t really seen a return as of yet. The decision to loan him out was taken. He’s over at Sunderland.

After a sluggish start, Amad has burst into life of late. He’s emerged as one of the best players in the Championship, scoring goals, picking up assists and proving to be a general menace for opposing defenders. You absolutely love to see it.

Now, Ten Hag has admitted he can ‘see’ the ‘potential’ of the 20-year-old starlet, while admitting to journalists, including Fabrizio Romano, that he considered bringing him back from the loan spell.

“We consider everything. I see his potential, but when we decide for Amad Diallo to return he has to be a player for the starting eleven.” Ten Hag told the media, including Romano.

“I’ve a little bit of a reservation for that because I don’t want to stop his great progress on loan”.

Honestly, I get the thought process behind it. Amad is playing well. United are a man light after losing Cristiano Ronaldo, albeit totally different players.

In the end, though, it makes sense to leave Amad where he is. He’s flourishing with Sunderland. Why stop that momentum, only for him to come back to United and sit on the bench for the most part?

What’s positive for Amad is that he’s now being seriously considered by Ten Hag. That bodes well going into a huge summer for the young man, who’ll be desperate to prove his worth sooner rather than later.
