Ten Hag offers encouraging Diogo Dalot injury update

Erik ten Hag offered us all an encouraging Diogo Dalot injury update after the 3-0 victory over Charlton.

Manchester United started the season with Diogo Dalot as the first-choice right-back. The Portugal international grabbed that opportunity with both hands. Al credit to him for that.

Sadly, Dalot’s World Cup campaign ended with an injury, which has disrupted his minutes going into the restart of domestic football. Then, as he started a game against Charlton last night, Dalot wouldn’t even make it till half-time with a new problem.

However, after the game, United were offered an encouraging update on the first-team star, with the problem deemed ‘not serious’ by Ten Hag, rather, bringing him off was a precaution.

Check out the Diogo Dalot injury update from Ten Hag here:

‘We have to wait.’ Ten Hag told the media, including The Metro.

‘I think it is not serious but it was a precaution to get him off and not take a risk when we have, on Saturday, an important game.

‘We have to see how it develops in the coming hours and then we have to make a clear decision.’

At this point, I’d like to give some praise to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has done really well in the absence of Dalot on several occasions over the last few weeks.

That said, Dalot is the undeniable number one in that right-back position right now. He’s playing some brilliant stuff on both sides of the ball. Perhaps all he needed was a manager who fully believed in his skill and ability. Ten Hag is someone who wholeheartedly trusts the Portugal international.

Hopefully, this problem isn’t serious. We’ll learn more as the week goes on, though the Manchester derby takes place this Saturday at 12:30, so the right-back is in a race against time to get himself fit enough to take part.

Do you think Diogo Dalot will be fit for the derby this weekend? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
