Ten Hag remains tight-lipped on whether Antony will play vs Arsenal

Erik ten Hag was asked directly whether we’ll see Antony feature against Arsenal on Sunday.

Manchester United Football Club take on Arsenal this Sunday, as the games start to come thick and fast for the Old Trafford side.

Antony sadly wasn’t signed quick enough to feature against Leicester City on Thursday night, though the Brazilian is now officially a Red Devil.

The 22-year-old pushed from his end, with Erik ten Hag getting the reunion he so desperately wanted since the start of the summer window.

Now the hard work for Antony really starts. He’ll have to impress in training to force his way into the starting line-up, though when you spend huge money on a player, there’s an expectation there.

As you’d expect, fans and reporters alike are keen to know when Antony may get his first taste of Premier League football. The Dutchman teased a potential debut against Arsenal this weekend, admitting that ‘we will see’ whether the former Ajax man will be involved.

“We will see for Sunday.” Ten Hag told the BBC’s Shannon Hafez.

Antony has had a pre-season with Ajax, though the winger hasn’t featured in their last couple of matches. He’s also moving to a completely new country, which could complicate things somewhat.

On the flip side, Antony knows the Ten hag style of play perfectly. That’ll help the attacker ease into things much quicker than usual. United are also light in the wide areas.

If I had to guess, I’d have Antony as someone who comes off the bench against Arsenal this Sunday. He’ll probably get 10 or 15 minutes to show off some tricks and flicks, while introducing himself to the Theatre of Dreams crowd for the first time.

A start against Real Sociedad a week today feels like the ideal scenario.
