Man United are still keen on signing Manuel Ugarte from PSG, though the Reds may have to sell before they can buy.
Manchester United have made one major signing so far, with Joshua Zirkzee arriving from Bologna in a £35m+ deal. The Old Trafford club also appear to be closing in on a deal to sign Leny Yoro from Lille, with the defender initially thought to be heading to Real Madrid.
After that comes addressing the gaping hole in midfield. The Red Devils struggled for consistency in that area of the pitch for large stretches of last season, though Kobbie Mainoo carried the Reds all on his own at times.
He should be offered genuine help next season, as a move for Manuel Ugarte appears to still be under consideration.
The Guardian have provided a small snippet of information on that front, claiming that Ten Hag ‘retains an interest’ in signing the 23-year-old PSG midfielder.
However a big-name sale in the form of Casemiro may have to occur, in order for United to be able to afford the rumoured £37m fee to sign Ugarte this summer.
There’s also a chance the 20-time Premier League champions could acquire Ugarte on loan, presumably with an option to buy if all goes to plan.
The Uruguay international is a true defensive midfielder. United absolutely need someone who can play that role to a high level next season, in order to allow the likes of Mainoo and Bruno to do what they do best further up the field.
Let’s hope the budget can stretch for Ugarte, whose addition could be an absolute masterstroke if United can pull it off.

IF Yoro signs for United, then it is a good start. However, a defensive midfielder (Ugarte) must be the next to be signed.
De Ligt seems certain to follow, possibly with Lindelof or Maguire being sold.
A new left back should be the next priority. Acting as back up to Shaw, and even replacing Shaw who could act as back up to Martinez.
The final incoming should be a back up defensive midfielder; Amrabat was useful at the end of the 2023/24 season and maybe a cheap option. A further loan deal is possible.
Outgoings; Lindelof or Maguire, Casemiro and Eriksen, Antony
