Erik ten Hag has told the media that Marcel Sabitzer is ready to play. He could make his debut against Crystal Palace today.
Manchester United had to act quickly to bring in a player on loan in the wake of the Christian Eriksen injury news, with the club eventually settling on a move to sign Marcel Sabitzer.
The Austria international wasn’t playing regularly at Bayern Munich, hence, the ex-RB Leipzig man was also super excited to make the move in order to showcase his talents.
Sabitzer has been handed his new United shirt number, has been in training with his new teammates and no doubt he’s ready to prove his worth.
In his presser yesterday, the manager has confirmed that the new United star is ‘ready to play’, and he could make his debut this afternoon at home to Crystal Palace.
Check out what Erik ten Hag had to say in full here:
“Very good. Of course, he did only one session but you can see he’s a very fit player. I didn’t have a different expectation.” Ten Hag told club media, when asked about Sabitzer’s availability. “He’s coming from Bayern Munich. German [clubs] they are always [about] fitness, [it’s] always good. So, he is [fit]. So, I think he is ready to play.
“I think he’s a really smart player. I think we gave him some guidance but I think he knows what to do, he knows the job, so he could do [start].”
I maintain my belief that this could be an astute signing. Sabitzer is an excellent midfielder within his own right, who’ll add an awful lot of quality to this team.
If I had to guess, Sabitzer will likely start this one off the bench and be used as a second-half substitute to inject something different into the game.
Either way, I’m excited to see him out there on that Old Trafford pitch for the first time.
