Erik ten Hag has demanded more production from winger Antony, though will resist temptations to sell the Brazilian.
It’s no secret that Manchester United have made many disappointing signings over recent seasons. The Old Trafford club haven’t spent their money wisely, leading to Erik ten Hag having to work harder to stick within the Premier League profit and sustainability rules.
This summer is a huge one. It’s INEOS’ first in charge of footballing operations and no doubt they want to hit the ground running and make their positive intentions abundantly clear.
As a result, some players will also have to be sold – though it looks like struggling winger Antony is not one of them…
It’s journalist Steve Bates with the latest information on that front, with @UtdDistrict relaying the information via their X account.
Apparently, Ten Hag ‘wants more’ from the struggling United star, while he will resist attempts to offload the winger, even on loan.
It’s stated that Antony is in INEOS’ ‘firing line’, but Ten Hag wants to give the ex-Ajax man another chance to prove his worth. This could be the first real head-bump between Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the current United boss.

Antony was pretty good last season. I firmly remain of the opinion that United play better football when he’s in the side due to his stylistic fit. However, Alejandro Garnacho has since emerged as an excellent right-winger and the need to start the Brazilian is diminishing.
There’s no doubt he’s also not been helped by his off-field issues. It will be taking his focus away from what happens on the football pitch and we’re seeing poorer performances as a result.
Antony is obviously a talented young man, though I also still worry about the fact he has absolutely no right foot whatsoever. You simply cannot make it at the highest level without being at least competent with both feet. Unless that changes anytime soon, I struggle to see how thee £70m+ United man starts games with regularity.
