Manchester United have been pretty good since lockdown ended, though you get the feeling the Red Devils are still a few players away from seriously competing for major honours.
With that in mind, the transfer stories in regards to the Old Trafford club are flowing in. Over the last 24 hours or so, United have been linked with a familiar name; Thiago Alcantara.
They’re claiming that the 29-year-old midfielder is set to leave his current club, Bayern Munich. Furthermore, Sport adds that he will ‘sign for Manchester United’.
Now at this point, we’d like to recommend that you take this story with a pinch of salt, as the same newspaper have recently linked Thiago with a move to Liverpool, too. Thanks again to Sport Witness for that one.
The article is actually mainly based on Thiago’s brother, Rafinha, who is ‘attracted’ to the idea of playing in the Premier League. It’s only a small snippet at the end of the article which makes such a bold claim about Thiago. However, we wouldn’t be doing our job properly if we didn’t bring this to your attention.
Here at Old Trafford Faithful HQ, we feel that the Thiago ship has certainly sailed. Injuries have definitely plagued his career, but he’s not getting any younger at this point.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s approach has been a youthful one. Thiago no longer falls into that category which is why I think the former FC Barcelona star will end up at Anfield this summer, as opposed to Old Trafford…
What do you make of this latest Thiago transfer news? Would he be a good signing for Manchester United?
