Thomas Partey doesn’t want to renew Atleti contract, ‘loves’ Man United link: report

Amongst Manchester United’s needs is a true box-to-box midfielder who can rotate with Scott McTominay and eventually replace an ageing Nemanja Matic.

Credit where it’s due, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been superb when it comes to signing players, it’s why I have absolutely no problem with giving the Baby Faced Assassin more money to spend.

The last time we covered a story linking Thomas Partey to United was back in March. Well, it seems as though the midfielder is pretty keen on those rumours, too…

The latest update comes via African football journalist Saddick Adams, who goes big… He states that the classy 26-year-old is ‘favouring’ a Premier League move, while the Ghanaian loves the United link. Furthermore, a deal could happen ‘sooner than expected’…

Perhaps the most important part of the story is that the player seemingly doesn’t want to extend his stay at Atletico Madrid – which makes this deal entirely possible.

A potential stumbling block could be contract length. Right now, Partey has three years remaining on his current terms with Atleti, meaning they’re under no pressure to sell if they absolutely don’t want to.

In terms of fit, Partey would be perfect for this Red Devils team. He can be the engine room in midfield, who’ll offer major protection to an ever-improving defence, while being keen to lay the ball off to the more offensive-minded midfielders.

Honestly, I’d pay whatever it takes to make this deal happen. If I had to put a figure on it, perhaps somewhere around the £60million mark should get the deal done. However, we should expect heavy competition for his signature.
