Thomas Tuchel keen on managing Man United as his Premier League ‘mission’ is not complete

Thomas Tuchel has eyes on becoming Man United manager at this stage of his career.

There has been very little talk about Erik ten Hag’s job being under threat over the last few weeks. I guess that sort of chitter-chatter disappears pretty quickly when you’re winning games. Credit to the Dutchman as Manchester United are doing exactly that right now.

However, that pendulum can swing back the other way if results start to spiral out of control. With some tricky games coming up, and a defence that is decimated by injury, I would not be at all surprised if those talks started happening again over the next month or so.

Well, one man who is seemingly waiting in the wings for a crack at the best job within the sport is Thomas Tuchel. The German will leave Bayern Munich by mutual consent this summer, with the ex-Chelsea gaffer looking for a way back into the English game.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg went as far as stating that the 50-year-old is ‘definitely taking a look’ at a potential managerial role at United, as the Old Trafford club ‘appeals’ to Tuchel.

On top of that, Tuchel ‘can well imagine’ coaching United someday, while he doesn’t see his ‘mission’ in the Premier League is complete. Let’s be honest, it didn’t go too well at Stamford Bridge – though he’s definitely improved as a manager since then.

Check out Florian Plettenberg’s X post on the news here:

I’ll just come out and say it. Keeping Ten Hag would be my preference at this moment in time. The Dutchman is slowly building a squad that suits his style of play and we have to give him that time. No longer can United keep sacking manager’s after a bad couple of months.

Plettenberg didn’t necessarily mention Tuchel looking to move to United this summer, more this could be a future move that the Red Devils could make. It feels as if Tuchel’s camp are trying to push the narrative early, in the event that Ten Hag could lose his job, the German would be waiting in the wings.

In our opinion, Ten Hag is a strictly better manager than Tuchel. That’s not to say the German is a bad coach, I just think the Reds should be setting their sights a little higher.
