Thomas Vermaelen wants Manchester United move after World Cup

Thomas Vermaelen has admitted that a move to Manchester United would be too good to turn down, according to the Daily Mail. Louis van Gaal traditionally likes one left-footed and one right-footed centre-back on his sides, so this transfer would make sense in that regard.

Vermaelen, 28, is frustrated by a lack of game time at Arsenal, and is ready to quit the Emirates despite being club captain. The deal is thought to be worth around £12million, although no deal between the two clubs is in place just yet.

Arsenal will be desperate to keep hold of Vermaelen, after already losing Bacary Sagna on a free transfer to Manchester City. The Gunners have lost countless players to both United and City, and it looks as though the Belgian centre-back could be the next in a long line of people to turn their back on Wenger’s side.

  1. he hasn’t been fit for two years…..and who again said he was going because his agent said he isn’t.

  2. I hope to God this doesn’t happen. There is a reason he isn’t first choice. He made his name as a goal scoring defender but is not a good CB. This signing will be Young MKII. Arsenal bought him for £10.3million. He is in his last year and 3rd choice and we will pay £12 million. Not a good deal at all. He isn’t better than the CBs we have right now.
