Manchester United’s first team squad is currently looking rather thin on the ground, with Louis van Gaal liking to work with a small squad and bringing youth through. We’ve decided to have a look at three youngsters who he could well sell this summer.
Memphis Depay
Big things were certainly expected of Memphis Depay upon his arrival at Manchester United, and we’ve seen glimpses of his ability. However he hasn’t been anywhere near good enough on a consistent basis, and his attitude off the field has come into question.
It looks as though a move away, despite it being so early on in his Manchester United career, is probably the best thing for all involved. United would get some money back and he’d get some game time.
James Wilson
The forgotten man. He burst upon the scene a couple of years ago, and many expected him to turn into exactly what Manchester United have with Marcus Rashford at the moment.
He’s now out on loan and struggling to get game-time at Brighton. Unfortunately he hasn’t quite kicked on for Manchester United, and he should be sold to a lower level Premier League side.
Paddy McNair
An excellent defender, but isn’t going to get into the starting line-up any time soon. The Northern Irishman has the capabilities of playing week-in week-out at the highest level, and he should be allowed to move on to further his own career.
