Timothy Fosu-Mensah has joined Bayer Leverkusen, with the former Manchester United youngster all set for life in the Bundesliga.
Well, we knew this deal was going to happen. It was just a case of when. Timothy Fosu-Mensah has sealed his exit from Old Trafford, moving to Bundesliga high-fliers, Bayer Leverkusen.
The Dutchman burst onto the scene when Louis van Gaal was gaffer at the Theatre of Dreams, though as soon as Jose Mourinho took charge, Fosu-Mensah’s chances were halted.
Since then, injuries have blighted his career and although Fosu-Mensah has been given a few chances by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it’s simply not enough.
That led to a move away, with the versatile Fosu-Mensah confirming as much via his social media page today.
The former United star would take to Instagram to share a photo of himself holding his new shirt aloft. He’d also add excitement at beginning a ‘new chapter’ with a top club.

First and foremost, this is a great move for Fosu-Mensah. Bayer is a club that’ll be able to offer him playing time, either as a centre-half or a full-back. Perhaps there’s even a place for him in that defensive-midfield role.
Fosu-Mensah is still young enough at 23 to make a real impact in the footballing world. The talent is there for all to see. All he needs is a good run of games and a manager who he believes in him. Hopefully, he now has all that in his favour.
Now, it’s about working hard in training, impressing his new coaches and taking those chances when they come his way. I’ll certainly be watching on keenly to see how he gets on.
All the best, Tim!
