Timothy Fosu-Mensah offers fans an all-important injury update

I think it’s fair to say that Timothy Fosu-Mensah has turned into the forgotten man at Old Trafford – as he was used sparingly as soon as Jose Mourinho walked through the door at Manchester United.

This term was spent out on loan with Fulham, although once again, the talented Dutchman failed to assert himself into their starting line-up.

That’s not to say Fosu-Mensah doesn’t have ability. It feels as though he’s been around for ages yet he’s still just 21 so he could still have a future at United.

His injury curse definitely hasn’t helped, though, and towards the end of the 2018/19 campaign, Fosu-Mensah suffered a knee ligament injury – which has completely ruined his summer.

Today, Fosu-Mensah took to Twitter to offer the fans an update, as he continues his rehabilitation.

As Fosu-Mensah says, this will be a slow process but it’s best not to rush him back into action. Knee ligament problems can keep you out for a whole year and I’d be surprised if we see the Dutchman back out on the field in 2019.

Unfortunately, that rules out his place on pre-season tour which is a massive shame as that would have been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first chance to see him in action. Instead, he’ll probably have to wait until the turn of the year.

It’s now down to Fosu-Mensah to keep himself in high spirits and remember that there’s still ample time for him to make an impact at Old Trafford.
