Toby Alderweireld speaks out on future amid Manchester United interest: report

Manchester United Football Club have already made three additions to the playing squad this summer, but it seems as though Jose Mourinho’s work isn’t done.

With a shortened transfer window, Edward Woodward and the rest of the Red Devils board will have to act quickly when it comes to securing their targets. One player heavily linked with an Old Trafford move is Toby Alderweireld. Now that he’s home from the World Cup, things should probably start moving forward – if he is to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Now, the 29-year-old has spoken out about his future, and he’s admitted that the decision is down to Spurs; although he has his own idea of what he wants to happen.

“I have another two years contract. Tottenham decides about my future.” Alderweireld is quoted as saying by the Daily Express.

“Of course I have my own idea. But that is not the case now.”

Understandably, Alderweireld is keeping the cards close to his chest at this point. He’s not going to come out and openly admit he wants to leave White Hart Lane (if that is the case). The ball is now in United’s court. In my opinion, they should begin to firm up their interest with an official bid.

We’re looking at a Premier League proven centre-half, who’s at the top of his game at the current moment. Mourinho loves the ready-made, experienced footballer, and no doubt he’d prefer to put his faith in Alderweireld rather than a young up-and-comer.
