Toby Collyer signs new three-year contract at Man United

Man United have secured the future of the talented Toby Collyer, with the midfielder penning a new contract.

Manchester United Football Club have always excelled when youth is concerned. For me, this is in the Reds’ DNA. The 20-time Premier League champions have had more success using this route, rather than spending big on marquee signings.

Although it was gutting to lose Omari Forson earlier on in the window, it felt like an inevitability as the winger went in search of first-team minutes.

However, there has been some better news over the last 24 hours, with the future of Toby Collyer now secure.

The official club website confirmed the top Man United talent has signed a new three-year contract, with the option for a further year.

Collyer, a defensive midfielder by trade, found himself in the matchday squad on multiple occasions last term. The 20-year-old is now looking to take that next step.

Word on the grape vine is that Collyer is in line for pre-season tour minutes after committing his future to the club, which would make sense.

United are short in the defensive midfield position, while Ten Hag is a big fan of the Englishman’s. The fact the gaffer wanted to be at his contract signing tells you everything you need to know about his belief in Collyer.

Now, it’s up to the player to prove his worth and take his chance, much like Kobbie Mainoo did last summer before going down with injury.
