Manchester United’s Tom Cleverley, is set to be subject of an £8million bid from Aston Villa, according to the usually reliable Telegraph broadsheet. The 25-year old from Basingstoke had a blistering start to his Manchester United career, but never really kicked on when given various chances in the first-team at Old Trafford.
Louis van Gaal isn’t keen on Cleverley’s playing style, and has already told the midfielder that he is free to find himself a new club before the transfer window slams shut on Monday. A bid from Villa is expected in the coming days, but they’ll have to act quick as they face competition from Everton and Hull City.
It’ll be a good move for all parties if it does go through. Tom Cleverley won’t get many opportunities at United, meaning his confidence will drop. However if he moves, Aston Villa are getting an excellent player, and Tom Cleverley himself is getting the playing time he needs.
