Tom Cleverley targeted by Galatasaray

After a disappointing season at Manchester United, Tom Cleverley is yet to be offered a new contract by the club. According to the Sun, Turkish club Galatasaray are keen on the 24-year old’s signature, along with Everton – as he has worked with Roberto Martinez previously.

When Cleverley burst on the scene in the Community Shield of 2011, big things were expected of the young midfielder. However injury hampered his debut season, and since then he hasn’t really got going.

He found his chances limited under Moyes last year, and when he did play his performances were largely underwhelming. He seems to lack the confidence to run with the ball or try that killer pass, or maybe he just doesn’t have those skills in his armoury.

I wouldn’t be against letting Cleverley leave, but I cannot see him switching Turkey for England anytime soon. The papers seem to suggest Roberto Martinez is a big fan of his, and a bid from the Toffees could be imminent.
