Manchester United had a year to forget in 2014, but as always there are several moments that make you believe the team is on the up once again. We’ve compiled our top five United moments for the year, check them out below:
These are in no particular order:
1. Manchester United’s 22 seconds of magic in Munich
Manchester United fans were overjoyed when Patrice Evra scored a wonder goal to give United the aggregate lead over Bayern Munich. Its a pity that lead only lasted for twenty seconds though, as Mario Mandzukic killed the dream almost instantly.
2. Transfer deadline day 2014
Deadline day was a crazy time for United. There were players being linked with us left, right and centre, and eventually we ended up signing Radamel Falcao and Daley Blind – both of whom have offered so much this season.
3. Angel di Maria signing for Manchester United
United broke the British transfer record to bring Di Maria to Old Trafford in early August, and the Argentine has been a sensation for the club. £59.7million was certainly well spent on this man.
4. United’s late 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea
This was the sign that United were finally back. The lads didn’t give up once during the 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea, and they were finally rewarded with Robin van Persie’s 94th minute leveller.
5. Manchester United’s 3-0 victory at home to Liverpool
Manchester United got one over on the old rival just a couple of weeks ago, as a Wayne Rooney inspired performance gave United a 3-0 victory at home to Liverpool. This was the perfect way to avenge the 0-3 defeat we suffered the last time these two sides met.
