Torino boss reveals how much Man United would have to pay to sign Andrea Belotti

Manchester United Football Club simply have to sign a new striker before the transfer window is over. Replacing Zlatan Ibrahimovic is an absolute necessity and so far, things have looked rather stagnant on that front. One name who has been linked is Torino forward, Andrea Belotti.

Today, we’ve been given another update in that saga and it comes direct from the club itself. Torino boss Sinisa Mihailjovic has had his say, and confirmed that Belotti will not be leaving his team unless someone pays the €100m (£87.7m) release clause.

Obviously, the Serie A side have a duty to appease their fans and do what is best for the club. Footballers of Belotti’s quality are a rare breed, and they’ll clearly be doing all they can to keep hold of their star striker.

Will he stay? I hope so and so does [President Urbano] Cairo who isn’t thinking of selling him,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport, as per the IB Times.

“Then there’s the €100m release clause. If someone pays it then a flood of money will arrive, but then we’d have to change the way we play. It’s not just about replacing Belotti, it’s worse than that. It’s hard to find someone else who pulls their teammates forward and scores 26 goals.”

I just cannot see the Red Devils forking out such a huge sum of money on one striker who has had a good twelve months though. That’s not to say the Italy international isn’t talented because he quite clearly is.

At this point in time though, I’m of the opinion that Jose Mourinho would prefer to bring in someone who he knows will guarantee goals, rather than a player who has the potential, but is more of a gamble. Alvaro Morata has been linked and for me, that’d be the better way to go.
