According to Goal.com, Luke Shaw has agreed a whopping £160,000-a-week deal with Manchester United worth a huge £40million to the player over five years. Shaw, 18, reportedly told Southampton that he wanted to move to Old Trafford on the last day of the season, and a move looks almost complete.
Goal also add that they believe Chelsea pulled out of the deal as soon as they learned about the wages Shaw wanted, despite Mourinho’s firm interest in the youngster.
United made a £27million bid for the left-back on the final day of the season, but Southampton’s stance has been clear since day one; They won’t be selling anymore players until a new manager is in charge, presumably so they can eye a replacement.
This has come from Goal, who aren’t the most reliable when it comes to transfers so please take this one with a pinch of salt for the time being.

This is surely a complete nonsense story. Januzaj who is 19 was recently described as the highest paid teenager in Europe and is supposedly on £55K per week. The club that wouldn’t pay Pogba £20K is paying Shaw £160K? I don’t believe it.
Isn’t that called tapping up??? If Southampton haven’t given United permission to talk to our Luke, which I’m pretty sure they haven’t because they said no-one would be sold before our new manager takes over then I’m pretty sure that’s what it’s called !!!!
But why would he stay with a small club ? It’s time to join the big boys
Oh I agree. Then why doesn’t he join a TOP 4 club and play CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. Just think he could set his sights a little higher than a team that finished ONE place above my beloved small club. Anyways, you didn’t answer my question. Is it called tapping up ???
Tapping up only applies if the club refuses to allow another club to speak with the player. This is different than simply rejecting an offer, which it appears they have done. Luke supposedly informed the Saints he would be speaking to other clubs in May. It is pretty clear they intended to start a bidding war. The decision still lies with them but no wrongdoing has been done by United or Chelsea if these reports are accurate.
Thanks for clearing that up Major :-). If he goes, it will be on our terms and as good as he is, and he is bloody good by the way – it’s gonna cost United a lot of dough :-)
That it is… and the wages they are tossing around are ludicrous. Although I seriously doubt United will part with over 100k per week on a teenager.
