Transfer Talk: United increase Shaw bid

Manchester United have increased their offer for Southampton and England left back, Luke Shaw, according to today’s Daily Mirror.

It is reported that the club have increased their offer from £27m to £34m, which would make Luke Shaw the most expensive teenager in British History, eclipsing the figure that United paid for Wayne Rooney back in 2004.

New United boss Louis van Gaal is determined to land the young left back and is wanting Ed Woodward to complete the deal upon his return from Brazil this week..

If Shaw were to sign, he will have plenty of time to settle into the club as he will be available vast majority of United’s Pre Season tour, following England’s early world cup exit.

Shaw, who will play in England’s final World Cup game tonight, is thought to be keen to move to Old Trafford. However Southampton are under no pressure to sell one of their brightest stars

Is £34m too much for a teenager or would it be money well spent? Let us know your thoughts below.

  1. absolutely ridiculous money for shaw. Clubs are taking advantage of Ut’d position and desperation for players.
We should at least attemp to express a loss of interest in shaw and raise the stakes for Blind / Rodriguez…will only force the price down.
Even better just offer them Hernandez and cleverley + £10

    • a – Take advantage? Ha… a joke. Saints do not want to sell. He is and more importantly WILL BE the best full back in the country for years to come. So if you Man U want him then the price is whatever it is. £40m., £50m?..just numbers. Go and buy someone that is for sale and we’ll keep Shaw thanks. He is contracted so even if he wants out at stupid money, Saints will decide. Not Man U. As for Cleverley in your comment?.. No thanks. Our U21’s are better than him.
