Trippier desperate for Premier League return amid Man Utd interest: report

Man United-linked Kieran Trippier wants to move back to England.

Luke Shaw is arguably the best left-back in the world right now. Part of the reason why is due to the fact that Alex Telles was signed, with the Brazilian pushing him all the way.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping that lightning will strike twice – but this side over on the right-hand side of defence. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been brilliant, though with real competition, the young Englishman could become even better.

One named linked with United as a possible right-back target is Kieran Trippier. The La Liga winner has constantly been touted with an English return this summer.

Now, we’ve been given the clearest indication yet that he wants to come back home. The story comes from The Telegraph, who state that the reported United transfer target is ‘desperate’ for a Premier League return.

Apparently, Trippier is ‘waiting’ to see if United make a new bid for him, while two other Premier League sides are also keen. As of right now, Trippier himself favours a move to United.

It’s claimed that ideally, United will sell players before making their final decision on Trippier. I’d assume that’s because the squad is looking pretty jam-packed right now, rather than the Reds having to generate funds to sign the 30-year-old.

For Trippier, he believes it’s now the right time to come back home – and attempt to win his first honours on English shores.

There’s no doubt about it, this move would be an astute one if United could pull it off. I guess it all depends on what Solskjaer’s plans for both Diogo Dalot and Brandon Williams are. As of right now, I’d assume loans for the pair are the way to go.

It also comes down to what sort of transfer fee Atletico want to let Trippier leave. Although he’s entering into the final year of his contract, the right-back was a vital part of their La Liga title-winning squad. They’re not just going to let him leave without putting up a fight.
