Manchester United’s defensive struggles on the pitch have been pretty evident recently. Jose Mourinho has struggled to get results out of the players available at his disposal.
There are off-field defensive issues, too, with forgotten man, Marcos Rojo, starting the season injured. We’re yet to see him in competitive action this term, although he is back in training.
Now, according to Turkish media outlet Fotomac, translated by Football Fan Cast, Fenerbahce are interested in the 28-year-old from Argentina, while weighing up a move to sign the ex-Sporting Lisbon man.
Apparently, Rojo himself turned down Fenerbahce’s advances over the summer, but things may well have changed given his lack of playing time. No doubt he wants nothing more than to be back out on the field, and playing regularly is probably the best thing for his career right now.
Whether United are interested in selling remains to be seen. However, it is pretty common knowledge that the Red Devils were trying to bring in a new centre-half over the summer.
Many forget that Rojo has done a brilliant job for us at centre-half at times. I’d argue that he’s probably the best defender we have on our books. Getting rid of him without bringing in a suitable replacement could be pretty disastrous.
