A pair of Man United stars have been named in the Carabao Cup Team of the Round after the victory over Charlton on Tuesday.
Manchester United have safely progressed into the Carabao Cup semi-final, following a comfortable victory at home to Charlton Athletic.
The 3-0 scoreline probably flattered United in the end, though the Red Devils always seemed in control of the situation, despite the fact that goals weren’t going in as freely as they probably would have liked – until late on.
Erik ten Hag made a point of United going all out to win this trophy, while a spot in the final four means nothing unless you go on to win it. There’s little time for reflection in this sport, though two United stars were named in the Team of the Round for their efforts.
Both Marcus Rashford (surprise, surprise) and Fred, were included in the xI, which was largely dominated by Newcastle United players.
Let’s start with Fred, who has quietly but effectively gone about his business over the last few weeks. The Brazil international has done a stellar job since returning from the World Cup – both when he starts or comes off the bench.
You’re starting to see that there’s a real player in there with Fred, though he does need that proper coaching and structure.
As for Rashford, what’s there left to be said? He’s playing at a ridiculously-high level. Right now, there aren’t many better players in the world – which he deserves all the praise for.
His two goals in this one made the victory a certainty, at a time when any lapse in concentration or individual mistake could have allowed the opposition a way back into the match. He’s on fire right now – and I’m all here for it.
Congratulations, lads!
