Jose Mourinho has told both Juan Mata and Ander Herrera that they are free to leave Old Trafford this summer. That’s what Marca say, translated by The Metro.
Manchester United are planning a huge overhaul this summer, with Mourinho ready to let the two fan favourites leave after both have had largely disappointing seasons.
Herrera, who was Manchester United’s Player of the Year last term, has struggled with injuries. When you couple that with some poor performances, you can understand why his future is up in the air.
I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Mata is probably the Red Devils’ most influential player in an attacking sense. He certainly makes the Red Devils tick, and in my opinion, losing him would be a massive blow.
It’s tough for United because obviously, the club has a long way to go if they want to compete with Manchester City for the Premier League title. Perhaps an overhaul isn’t the worst idea in the world, but letting one, or both of these guys go is going to upset a rather large section of the fans; that’s for sure…
