Manchester United Football Club have had a mixed twelve months. Louis van Gaal’s side did what was expected of them in the Dutchman’s first year in charge, without really impressing the fans with a somewhat dull style of play.
However despite all that, two reds have been awarded with a nomination for the FIFA World XI team. The shortlist is 55-men strong, and both David de Gea and Wayne Rooney are up for a spot in the side.
Its highly unlikely that any of the pair will make it into the final squad, but its nice to see they are getting some credit – particularly David de Gea.
He is without doubt one of the best keepers in the world and its great to see him make a real impact on the global stage. Wayne Rooney’s nomination is a bit of an odd one. Honestly, he hasn’t done all that much over the last year or so and he seems to be going backwards at the moment.
