Tyrell Malacia may not play for Man United once this season, with an ongoing knee injury.

This season has certainly been one to forget for Manchester United Football Club. The Red Devils have off-field issues galore to contend with, while mounting injuries has made it even tougher for Erik ten Hag.

Treatment table woes has undoubtedly been the problem of the season. It’s not an excuse, but a simple fact. I’d struggle to find a team across Europe who has had it worse than the Old Trafford side.

One player who we haven’t seen all campaign long is Tyrell Malacia. Now, the Manchester Evening News have provided the latest on the Dutchman.

The English media outlet have confirmed that United have been dealt an injury blow, as the 24-year-old may now miss the entirety of the season, as an ongoing knee issue continues.

Malacia reported for pre-season training in July with a knee problem that required surgery. He was originally pencilled in to return in January, though he suffered a setback, requiring a second surgery.

Malacia has not played once this season, which hasn’t helped United in the left-back department. With Luke Shaw now also sidelined until May, there’s every chance that Victor Lindelof and Sofyan Amrabat will play most of the minutes in that area of the field for the rest of the campaign.

All this does is make me question the decision to allow Sergio Reguilon to head back to Tottenham Hotspur, while sanctioning a loan move away for Alvaro Fernandez isn’t looking all that clever, either…

As for Malacia, it’s now about building towards the new season. Missing a full campaign worth of football must not be easy and you’d suspect it’s going to take him quite some time to build up those all-important fitness levels.
