Tyrell Malacia was spotted driving into Carrington this morning, to finalise his Man United medical.
Well, it has taken longer than we’d all hoped, but Manchester United are closing in on their first signing of the summer.
Credit where it’s due, the Old Trafford club have gone about this one pretty efficiently. Nobody had heard Malacia’s name in the same breath as a Red Devils switch until last week.
Now, here we are, watching Malacia arrive at United’s Carrington training ground this morning to finish his medical. It was The Sun who provided the scoop and the photo (see below).
The Feyenoord full-back arrived in Manchester yesterday, with The Sun now reporting that he is ‘hours away’ from finalising his move to the Theatre of Dreams.

In terms of transfer fee, Malacia will cost United an initial £13million. In the modern-day game, that’s a relative bargain assuming the Dutchman fully develops and thrives in the Ten Hag system.
The good news is that this deal has seemingly be done quick enough to ensure that Malacia can get involved on United’s pre-season tour which starts in a week.
This will give the left-back plenty of time to settle into a new dressing room, learn a new system and get comfortable in a new country.
I also love the fact that Malacia arrives with very little pressure on his shoulders. He won’t be expected to start every single week from matchday one. Rather, he can learn from the likes of Luke Shaw and take over that starting berth when he’s 100% ready to do exactly that.
This feels like a shrewd signing from United. More of the same, please!
