Tyrell Malacia was spotted working hard in the gym, as he edges ever closer to making a return from a year-long absence.
The story of Manchester United’s season has been injuries. The Old Trafford club have been hit harder than any other club in that regard – though Erik ten Hag has refused to use it as an excuse.
Perhaps no one player epitomises the situation more than Tyrell Malacia does. We literally haven’t seen the Dutchman take to the field in twelve months. That’s majorly concerning for any professional player.
Malacia suffered a bad knee injury, before having to endure a further setback and another surgery. Coming back from that isn’t easy. It’s going to take the left-back time. As fans, we have to be patient.
He will not play again this term. That could be a good thing in the long-run. However, we’re still unsure as to what sort of timeframe he’s working on right now.
Well, today, we were given a positive update on Malacia. The long-term injured United star was spotted working hard in individual training, as he looks to edge closer to making that long-awaited return.
It was X/Twitter account @TenHagBall_ providing the scoop and as you can see, Malacia was certainly putting in the graft.

This is a long road to recovery. In an ideal world, Malacia will be fit enough to be a full participant in pre-season, albeit at a slower pace than the rest of his United teammates.
The left-back will have to take it nice and easily to start with as it has been that long since he’s taken to the field in a competitive setting.
It has no doubt been a hard year for Malacia, physically and mentally, though it does seem like he’s had a great supporting network around him to help the left-back through this difficult time.
Now, it’s down to the fans. It’s going to take months before Malacia is anywhere close to 100%. We have to take the inevitable rough with the smooth that’s about to follow and give him our full backing.
