Over the weekend, we covered a story which stated that Marcus Rashford was stalling on signing a new deal as he was worried about which direction Manchester United were heading in…
However, the Star on Sunday have gone against that grain, claiming the Red Devils are confident that Rashford will stay at the club.
The report states that Rashford, who earns £75,000-a-week, is set to almost treble his wages to £300,000-a-week. That’d certainly soften the blow of playing in this United side… They also add that the England international will put pen to paper before the end of the month.
I’m all for Rashford staying. He got a lot of stick towards the end of the season but I maintain the view that he was carrying an injury from the Liverpool game onwards.
Is he worth £300,000-a-week though? Almost certainly not. This deal would make him United’s second-highest earner behind Alexis Sanchez according to The Star’s article. I just find that mind-boggling.
Rashford is someone who you could potentially build your team around. He’s still young and learning, and it’s extremely easy to forget that he’s still just 21 years of age. I just don’t want the club to put too much pressure on him, and if he’s hesitant about staying, is throwing more money at him really the wisest idea?
