United draw Liverpool in the cup

Manchester United have been drawn against the old enemy, Liverpool, in the third round of the Capital One Cup. Our Liverpool rivals have had a good start to the season, winning two of two league games and progressing in the Capital One Cup albeit needing extra time to do so.

The teams were the first two sides out of the hat and will face each other at Old Trafford, in what could be Luis Suarez’s first game back after his 10 match ban for biting, assuming he hasn’t been sold by then.

The tie will take place the week commencing 23rd September, most likely to be on the 25th due to United’s Sunday game against City the weekend before. However with City also being drawn at home, maybe one of the sides will have to play on the Tuesday evening.

Third Round Draw:
Man Utd v Liverpool
Sunderland v Peterborough
West Ham v Cardiff
Man City v Wigan
Burnley v Nottingham Forest
Newcastle v Leeds
Southampton v Bristol City
West Brom v Arsenal
Swindon v Chelsea
Tranmere v Stoke
Watford v Norwich
Aston Villa v Tottenham
Hull v Huddersfield
Leicester v Derby
Birmingham v Swansea
Fulham v Everton
