Manchester United duo Anthony Martial and Ander Herrera are being targeted for summer moves by Atletico Madrid.
Apparently, the pair aren’t in Jose Mourinho’s plans for next term, El Gol Digital claim, translated by The Sun.
Diego Simeone is eyeing a £70million double-swoop for the pair, valuing Martial at £45-50million, whereas Herrera would cost around £25million.
Personally, I’m fully expecting Martial to leave this summer. The Frenchman’s playing time has been considerably reduced following Alexis Sanchez’s arrival and quite frankly I just don’t think there is space for him in the squad.
I love Martial, he’s a fantastic footballer, but we’ve seen Mourinho part with superstar talents before (see Mohamed Salah & Kevin de Bruyne). Thankfully, though, if he moves to Atletico, at least he can’t hurt us domestically; which would probably mean a reduction in transfer fee, but I’d take that the selling him abroad option every single time.
As for Herrera, he’s been brilliant recently. The Basque-born midfielder has formed an excellent partnership alongside both Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba. If he left, we’d be losing a massively important squad player. Don’t forget, he was the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year just twelve months ago.
